The Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen is proud to be part of the ‘Director’s Choice’ series. The book presenting 37 artworks from the collections of the gallery was introduced in September 2019 in the Masne kramy exhibition hall.

The ‘Director’s Choice’ series

The Gallery of West Bohemia is delighted to announce that it has become the latest Czech institution to join the exceptionally successful series ‘Director’s Choice’, published by Scala Arts & Heritage in London. In this series museum/gallery directors select and comment on their personal highlights from their collections. Now numbering over fifty volumes in more than twenty countries across three continents, ‘Director’s Choice' provides an engaging introduction to an institution’s collections and activities, presented from the authentic and persuasive perspective of the Director. At once authoritative and personal in tone, these books appeal to the reflective visitor, typically a person of education and cultural curiosity, but not an expert (although there is much in there to interest specialists too). They are produced to the highest standards with top-quality materials, paper and image reproduction, all at an easily affordable price and in a practical format – these books can be comfortably carried or slipped into a bag.

‘Director’s Choice’ has attracted some of the world’s most renowned museums and galleries, and the Gallery of West Bohemia joins such institutions as the Frick Collection in New York; the National Gallery and the Wallace Collection in London; the State Hermitage Museum and the Fabergé Museum in St Petersburg; the Albertina in Vienna; the Alte and Neue Pinakothek Munich; and the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao.
