“Hey Bao! What’s up? We’re reading… Cool, thanks.“ Baobab is not “just” a publishing company specialising in illustrated books for children, but an organic whole that is constantly embracing new activities. It supports young illustrators and writers, promotes artist books for children, maps contemporary European literature for children and young people, and introduces Czech readers to the most interesting 20th and 21st-century illustrators.

The Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen outlines the conceptual and creative environment in which Baobab’s books are created, revealing its sources of inspiration, introducing its key authors as well as authors from other countries and presenting Baobab’s archives and individual illustrations together with its future plans, while also looking at book culture more generally.

The newsprint guide steers visitors from A to Z and sets out the challenges faced by illustrators, editors, typographers, printers, publishers and everyone else involved in creating quality books.
